This momentum led to the creation of Réunisaf in 2001—an organization recognized by the Ministry of Health (receiving the “Bien Traitance” award) and honored by the Academy of Medicine—for the support it provides to these women, who are isolated in their suffering and have sought refuge in alcoholism.
National and regional health authorities, local authorities, and professionals in the medico-social, cultural, educational, and justice sectors—as well as all other institutions, associations, groups, and unions working on this issue—aim to:
The individuals who founded the association—the majority of whom have been working for over a decade to reduce the risk of children being born with FAS—are active members.
Those who have rendered services to the association and foreign corresponding members—prominent figures who contribute to the development of FASD prevention in their respective countries.
These are the individuals or entities that provide financial support to the association in accordance with the terms set out in the internal regulations.
The resulting Board of Directors is composed of members representing prevention stakeholders, user representatives, and empathetic members.
The association’s objective is to facilitate information, training, research, care, support, and prevention regarding the full spectrum of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders in the Indian Ocean region.
