Inform, support and take action to protect every pregnancy

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders encompass all the consequences that may affect a child exposed to alcohol during pregnancy. The diagnosis may then be syndromic or non-syndromic FASD.

FASD can involve birth defects, developmental delays, learning difficulties, dysfunctions, and lasting impacts on the lives of exposed children.

The neurodevelopmental disorders experienced by children, adolescents and adults can lead to difficulties that manifest as academic challenges, delinquent behavior, difficulties finding employment, loss of autonomy, and psychiatric comorbidities.

It is primary prevention to inform the population, secondary prevention to address people who drink alcohol, and tertiary prevention because secondary disorders must still be prevented.
